A student of mine at work is passionate about the arts and applied to the Waterbury Arts Magnet School. As part of her application she needed to draw/paint a vegetable nine times using different mediums and techniques. We chose a variety of mediums including graphite, colored pencils, pens, watercolor, and markers. She also experimented with the graphite and pen to create blending, cross hatching, and pointillism techniques. I recently just found out that she has been accepted to attend classes at WAMS in the fall! I am so happy for her and I know she will continue to grow as an artist. It is moments like this one that make me love being an art teacher.
